Our Background

Our Mission:
   Filled with joy and peace for all that our God has done for us, we are glad to carry out the mission he has given his people everywhere.  He wants us to proclaim the good news of salvation to all people and to do that by leading people into his Word, the Bible.  Through the words of the Bible, Jesus sends the Spirit of God into human hearts to create and strengthen faith and to empower believers to live joyful lives for him.  God also wants his children to join with others, who confess as they do, for worship, Bible study and fellowship so that we can encourage one another along the journey that leads to our heavenly home.  So, we can say that we have received our mission from God:  We are here to connect you to God’s Word, to God’s people and to God’s work.

What we believe
Ascension Lutheran Church was established in 1968 to bring the message of God’s love to the Escondido community. By God’s grace, we continue to do this, not only through our regular worship and other church activities, but also through our school and preschool ministries.

In faithfulness to God and his word, we do not ignore sin, but we confront it and we do this so that we may announce God’s forgiveness of sins for all people. This is what Jesus won for us when he suffered and died on the cross. This is what his resurrection from the dead guarantees us. This good news gives us great joy and comfort, even when we face the trials and troubles of life. We are convinced that nothing can separate us from the love of God, because Jesus has risen from the dead and ascended to heaven where he rules all things for the good of everyone who believes in him. We believe that God has done all of this for us, not because we have earned or deserved it, but because he loves us. Through his good news he calls people everywhere to believe his promises. This is why at Ascension Lutheran Church it is our mission to proclaim this good news in our church, in our community and throughout the world. We invite you to come and hear it too!
